Trainer Blog: Dynamics 365 Finance training in Canada

Optimum were recently involved in the implementation of Dynamics 365 Finance and Dynamics 365 Commerce for a leading Canadian home improvement retailer. Our brief was to produce bespoke end-user reference materials for the finance team, before delivering the classroom training, as part of the second phase of their implementation.

Having been involved involved in the first phase a few months previously, creating reference guides and trainer packs for General Ledger courses, I was able to quickly familiarise myself with the requirement. This time we were required to develop courses for the Accounts Payable (AP) team. I worked remotely in collaboration with their finance team to create two different courses; one for the AP team and a shorter course for the General Accounting team, ensuring all relevant parts of business understood the new processes. I then created reference guides, trainer packs and a number of retention activities to ensure a smooth go-live.

I then travelled to Eastern Canada to deliver the classroom training sessions. It was great to put faces to names and get to know the team I had been working with remotely. The training went smoothly and was received well by the delegates, who had travelled from locations across the country. I also had the opportunity to sit in on some of their own internal training and provide system support where required.

Speaking to delegates, it was great to see there was a real sense of confidence moving forward with phase two, which I’m sure will continue when D365 is implemented at the stores later this year.
