Trainer Blog: D365 training for construction firm

This week I was delivering a half-day construction Dynamics 365 for Customer Service training course for one of the UK’s largest new home builders. The training took place in a variety of the regional offices across the country. The courses went well, with the sessions full of great characters which always helps. Initially, the site managers seemed a little hesitant towards moving from paper to the new D365 application, however, once they saw how quick and user friendly it was to complete the process using the new system, they were soon onside.

So I started the week in Leeds, West Yorkshire, for a couple of days and then caught a train down to Milton Keynes, Bucks. It turned out that the business process was slightly different for the Milton Keynes office location, so the training session started with a fact-finding mission to understand the regional differences. This information is usually collected during our knowledge transfer sessions, but we always need to be prepared for any last-minute additional context.

On Thursday I was based in an old stately home near Norwich, Norfolk, which had great views, although the Wi-Fi connection was fairly poor. Luckily we were able to hotspot from our work phones in order to continue with the course. Finally I finished the week back in our London office. This gave me the opportunity to reflect on the week’s training, review the feedback and update the training materials accordingly, catch up on an overflowing inbox and prepare for the following week. Also, the best thing about being in the office on a Friday is being able to catch-up with my colleagues for any end-of-week beer – cheers!
