Optimum, the IT training consultancy, has developed and delivered end-user training for 300 staff at West Bromwich Building Society following a major upgrade of the Society’s Unit4 Business World (Agresso) finance and HR system.

The web-based users needed to know only a small part of the complex Agresso system from Unit4 Business Software. With this in mind, Optimum created a series of one-hour classroom presentations as the most efficient and cost effective training method.

In addition to producing a set of quick reference cards to help users back at their desks, Optimum also updated the Society’s training documentation to reflect the new features and processes of the upgraded Agresso system. All the training materials were subsequently given to the West Bromwich Building Society, enabling them to train new joiners and carry out refresher training internally.

The West Brom Building Society felt Optimum would be the ideal organisation to help it develop the resources and materials to train 300 users. Tom Lynch, the divisional director of finance, said: “Doing our own extensive user training on a previous upgrade had proved challenging as we did not have the required in-house resource, were up against a tight deadline and the administration behind it was time-consuming.”

Lynch noted: “As Optimum knew the system so well they were able to develop a structured programme, tailored to our precise needs, within a few days. Feedback from the users on the quality and usefulness of the training was very good, scoring consistently high marks.”
