Training for a UK housing associations group
The ERP training consultancy Optimum has designed and delivered Covid-secure user training on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations for the Orbit Group, one of the UK’s leading housing providers and ranked 46th in the Sunday Times Best 100 Companies to Work For.
Under Project Apollo, Orbit is replacing a range of legacy finance, project, procurement and HR systems with D365 as well as upgrading all its users to Windows 10.
Go live for phase one had been rescheduled for June 2020 so when the Covid-19 pandemic hit Optimum had to quickly rework all its user training courses to deliver them over Microsoft Teams or by video rather than face to face as originally planned.
Joanne Harrison, Optimum Sales Director
Optimum often delivers training remotely but because there is no interaction with the trainees it needs a different approach from in the classroom. Working alongside Orbit’s workstream leads, Optimum was able to rewrite exercises, adapt the supporting materials and restructure courses to keep the users engaged, all within a tight timeframe.
A consultant also provided specific support for the accounts payable team during user acceptance testing, in the run up to go live, and afterwards in a hyper-care role.
All Optimum’s training documentation, including quick cards and ‘train the trainer packs’, eLearning and videos, are now hosted on Orbit’s learning management system for users to access as needed.
Joanne Harrison, Optimum’s Sales Director, said: “With the sudden emergence of Covid-19 we had to be at our most flexible. Because we know D365 so well and are experts in creating effective, tailored user training programmes we could adapt and deliver on time.”
