Training for a global pharmaceuticals and medical devices firm
Santen Pharmaceutical is one of the world’s leading specialist ophthalmic pharmaceutical companies, providing treatments, medical devices, and medicines. Founded in Japan, Santen now serves patients across EMEA, North America, Asia and Japan.
Optimum helped Santen transition to SAP S/4HANA, as part of the company’s Genesis project. The project aims to replace SAP ECC, which will no longer be supported by SAP beyond 2027, and introduce streamlined global processes, rolling out the Finance, Supply chain, Manufacturing, and Quality workstreams.
Optimum developed a tailored training programme for their pharmaceutical employees, resulting in high satisfaction rates and effective material delivery.

Challenge
Operating in a pharmaceutical environment, training is a critical factor to meet GxP good practice quality guidelines and regulations. Santen wanted a flexible, yet customised training approach that met its specific needs.
Solution
Optimum delivered Santen high quality, customised training materials and worked with key users to answer each of their specific training needs. These included going beyond simply demonstrating the new system, but explaining the processes behind the tools, and the reasons for the changes.
Project management was also a significant part of the implementation, and the Optimum team helped Santen achieve its key objectives in the specified timeframe.
The result was that 92 percent of end-users were happy with the training materials they received. This was a key factor in Santen’s decision to continue working with Optimum.
