Training for a global printer manufacturer
SAP S/4HANA ERP
IT training specialist Optimum has created a tailored pre-UAT learning programme to support the subject matter experts (SMEs) of the global printer manufacturer OKI, who are implementing SAP S/4HANA.
Optimum was called in to design and deliver the SME’s training five months before the European arm of the Japanese manufacturer goes live on its upgrade to S/4HANA Finance in 2021.
Optimum stepped in as the new system was still under development. Their brief was to plan and deliver an online interactive training programme for the SMEs covering a list of specific system topics and their processes. The objective was to give the SMEs a clear understanding of the new capabilities of S/4HANA and the differences over their previous version of SAP.

Writing the courses, lesson plans and online exercises was made more challenging because it was done without any knowledge transfer or input from the client. The training programme was designed and developed working solely from test scripts as the bespoke S/4HANA system was being built.
Optimum’s consultant also acted as a facilitator during the training. He brought in both the implementation partner and on occasion SAP trainers to supply very detailed technical information, then interpreted that to fit into the SME’s learning programme.
Feedback on the training was doubly positive – the SMEs reported that they found it extremely useful and it also highlighted a wide range of development discussion points for the implementation partner going forward.
Joanne Harrison, Optimum’s sales director’ said: “This was an unusual and challenging project for us in unique circumstances. We’re very pleased that yet again we could deliver for the client.”
