Project Detail

Associated British Foods (ABF), a global food, ingredients and retail group brought in ERP training consultancy Optimum to support its end user training programme for the roll out of Microsoft Dynamics 365 to the first of its divisions in the UK.

The organisation was replacing a range of legacy systems with D365 encompassing all the division’s operations from financials, master data collection, warehouse manager, production control and scheduling, to customer support.

The project was a hybrid approach with Optimum’s team working alongside the client’s internal trainers. Starting very close to go live, Optimum consultants had just six weeks to create a suite of end-user training materials and trainer packs for the entire D365 system before delivering the initial phase of end user training. The subsequent training delivery would be completed up by ABF’s internal team, using Optimum’s trainer packs.

“The trainer packs produced by Optimum provided our in-house trainers with a comprehensive set of materials to enable them to deliver the training effectively.”

Alison Farrar, ERP Transformation Director

The business had already scheduled the end user system training sessions so Optimum had to carry out knowledge transfer as quickly as possible, write the training courses and the documentation before stepping into the classroom. A series of face-to-face sessions was held over two weeks at three sites in the north of England, with the rest of the training delivered virtually.

Speaking of the partnership, Alison Farrar, ERP Transformation Director for ABF brand Jordans Dorset Ryvita said: “The trainer packs produced by Optimum provided our in-house trainers with a comprehensive set of materials to enable them to deliver the training effectively.

“The ‘train the trainer’ course was also very well received and set our trainers up to be able to deal with the planned delivery to their colleagues.”

The Optimum created training materials and trainer packs will be updated and localised by ABF as the organisation continues to roll out D365 to other companies in the group.
