Professional Services ERP Training

We partner with professional services organisations to provide customised ERP training and change solutions.

Tailored professional services ERP user adoption programmes

Having supported various different professional services organisations, Optimum has the experience to provide you with an unparalleled end-user training programme for any business system. This includes all ERP systems, covering workstreams such as finance, HR/payroll, legal case management, practice management, portfolio and audit management.

Your end-user training programme must be targeted so the right content is being trained to the right audiences. This fast-moving sector where the end users are both customer facing and office based brings with it a unique set of challenges when training.

Firstly, there is typically significant differences in the level of user ability. Secondly, depending on how old the existing processes have been in place, there will be resistance to change. Finally, the timing of the training must be flexible and not hinder business in any way.

“Optimum added value by producing consistent, high quality documentation to deadline which we couldn’t have done to the same standard ourselves. I’m at the top end of being pleased.”

Professional services ERP systems we regularly support

We can train on any business system, whether it’s off-the-shelf, a customised equivalent or an ERP system built specifically for your business. Here is a selection of systems on which we regularly support.

Typical professional services audiences we support

As with any industry it’s important to select an ERP training consultancy who are experienced in working with professional services user groups. Having partnered with numerous professional services organisations across the globe, we’re perfectly placed to do this. Here are a few of the user groups we typically support during professional services ERP projects.

Depending on the hands-on involvement of this audience, the training solution will differ. For client-facing fee earners and partners, little time will be spent using the ERP system, so they would benefit from a short presentation introducing them to their dashboard/KPI reports. For more hands-on users, short classroom modules

could be introduced to address topics such as: creating a client; creating a new matter; an overview of billing and closing a matter. This user community may not relish being taken from their day job and brought in to the classroom, so the training must be relevant and focussed.

Roles include Partners, Fee Earners, Paralegals etc.

This audience will require in-depth training in the billing process. For international practices, this should also address multi-currency invoicing. Training for this audience would need to be delivered in the classroom with a high level of hands-on practice and consolidation.

Not only should this audience understand billing processes including rate tables, professional disbursements billing, invoice processing, credit control, managing client balances and debt ledgers but they need to have a solid understanding of the matter inception > management >close process.

Roles include Billing Teams, Accounts Operators, Billing Managers etc.

Training for this audience is very specific and should be tailored. Hands-on practice of running client checks, producing conflict reports and the business process behind addressing any conflicts should be addressed.

In order to do this, we would recommend short session which can be attended by small audiences to ensure business-as-usual activities are covered in the lead up to go live.

Roles include Risk Partners, Risk Management
Team, Compliance Officers etc.

This training session should provide not only training in the tasks carried out by a secretary but should also provide an overview of what the fee earner will be required to do. Fee earners vary considerably regarding their system usage, with many of their secretaries completing many of the on-system tasks.

This user community will also need an understanding of billing, records management and conflict management. Classroom training with hands-on consolidation and practice would be recommended for this audience.

Roles include Lead Secretaries, Administrators, Secretaries etc.

Timing for the training of finance users is paramount and cannot disrupt their end of month/quarter commitments. Your training programme should train on a build which will be familiar to the audience when they go live, introducing walkthroughs using your COA, approval hierarchy and data.

Classroom training is popular with these audiences, however, if the audiences are overseas, modular delivery across WebEx/Skype can be delivered in shorter durations.

Roles include Management Accountants, Finance Assistants, Treasurers etc.

HR works closely with the departmental administrators as well as recruitment. Their core system users are normally the HR administrators who will require hands-on training so they are competent for go live.

Users such as business partners and line manager approvers will not require classroom training but a short session on the core benefits, their role in the process and the functionality they are required to use.

Roles include HR Administrators, HR Business Partners, Line Managers etc.
