Pharmaceutical ERP System Training

We partner with pharmaceutical organisations to provide customised ERP training and change solutions.

Tailored pharmaceutical ERP user adoption programmes

Having supported some of the largest pharmaceutical organisations in the world, Optimum has the experience to provide you with an unparalleled end-user training programme for any business system. This includes all ERP systems, covering workstreams such as finance, HR/payroll, production, distribution, quality management, research and manufacturing.

Your end-user training programme must be targeted so the right content is being trained to the right audiences. This fast-moving sector where the end users are both customer facing and office based brings with it a unique set of challenges when training.

Firstly, there is typically significant differences in the level of user ability. Secondly, depending on how old the existing processes have been in place, there will be resistance to change. Finally, the timing of the training must be flexible and not hinder business in any way.

Partnering with Boehringer Ingelheim, the world’s largest private pharmaceutical company

“Having an Optimum Consultant working in our office throughout was invaluable because the whole project team could liaise with them on a daily basis. It helped to ensure that everything was delivered on time and to a high standard, even when the pressure was really on. I’d say the training was a tremendous success.”

Pharmaceutical ERP systems we regularly support

We can train on any business system, whether it’s off-the-shelf, a customised equivalent or an ERP system built specifically for your business. Here is a selection of systems on which we regularly support.

Typical pharmaceutical audiences we support

As with any industry it’s important to select an ERP training consultancy who are experienced in working with pharmaceutical user groups. Having partnered with numerous pharmaceutical organisations across the globe, we’re perfectly placed to do this. Here are a few of the user groups we typically support during pharmaceutical projects.

It is critical for all end users to be proficient in the use of the ERP solution. The setup of batch orders and corresponding activities including material consumption, etc. must be trained using business aligned examples and all users regardless of their role must have an appreciation of the entire process to understand their impact.

A combination of short instructor-led sessions and workplace-scenario sessions should be developed for this workstream. Training content could be designed around current good manufacturing practice (CGMP).

Roles include Operators, Production Planners, Production Supervisors etc.

Training for this audience should be in a simulation of the workplace allowing them to practise both the physical and system processes ensuring complete user understanding and adoption.

Hands-on practise for this audience is crucial and the timing of the training should be close enough to go live so there is minimal hypercare/support required.

Roles include Cleaning Technicians, Operators, Supervisors etc.

With quality underpinning every stage of pharmaceutical manufacturing, training in all aspects of the quality process including the test execution and management of quality orders, batches and quarantine is key.

This training should provide a high level of hands-on practice with quality-aligned business scenarios for consolidation.

Roles include Managers, Operators, Quarantine Managers etc.

There can be users wearing multiple hats depending on the scale of your operation. Training for this end-user community could take the form of short modules delivered in the workplace using the latest handheld software/hardware to ensure business-as-usual activities are maintained.

Example modules delivered could include: performing adjustments, moving inventory, booking to quarantine, and so on.

Roles include Warehouse Managers, Despatch Coordinators, Receivers etc.

Timing for the training of finance users is paramount and cannot disrupt their end of month/quarter commitments. Your training programme should train on a build which will be familiar to the audience when they go live, introducing walkthroughs using your COA, approval hierarchy and data.

Classroom training is popular with these audiences, however, if the audiences are overseas, modular delivery across WebEx/Skype can be delivered in shorter durations.

Roles include Management Accountants, Finance Assistants, Treasurers etc.

HR works closely with the departmental administrators as well as recruitment. Their core system users are normally the HR administrators who will require hands-on training so they are competent for go live.

Users such as business partners and line manager approvers will not require classroom training but a short session on the core benefits, their role in the process and the functionality they are required to use.

Roles include HR Administrators, HR Business Partners, Line Managers etc.
